Breast Cancer-metastases study

SND-ID: EXT 0122

This study is part of the collection Scania Metadatabase for Epidemiology (SME)

Creator/Principal investigator(s)

Håkan Olsson - Lund University, Faculty of Medicine, The Division of Oncology and Pathology

Description

The participants in this cohort are individuals with breast cancer and metastatic disease coming to the Department of Oncology in Lund for treatment since 2003. The data collection in the study is still ongoing. From all individuals, there is information about the status of the primary tumor, metastatic sites, tumor volume, and treatments. There are also paraffin-embedded tissue from primary tumor saved from all individuals, and for a subset of the cohort also frozen primary tumor tissue saved. There is DNA, plasma and serum saved from all individuals.

Purpose:

To find tumor markers or tumor cells in the blood from patients with metastatic breast cancer.
