This is the fifth SOM-survey conducted in the region of Skåne. The questionnaire was divided into seven subject fields: news and media; politics, society and democracy; society and service; media use; activities, interests and values; working life; and background information.

Syd-SOM 2011 har genomförts som två parallella undersökningar med olika urvalsram, varav den ena utgjordes av 16-85-åringar och den andra av 16-29-åringar (ungdomsurvalet). Båda undersökningarna omfattar ett systematiskt sannolikhetsurval av 3 000 personer boende i Skåne. Såväl svenska som utländska medborgare ingår i båda urvalen.
