EDDI 2011

EDDI 2011 is organized jointly by SND - Swedish National Data Service, GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences, and IDSC of IZA - International Data Service Center of the Institute for the Study of Labor.
The meeting will bring together DDI users and professionals from all over Europe and the world. Anyone interested in developing, applying, or using DDI is invited to attend and present.

Keynote Speech
We are very delighted that Bo Sundgren will deliver the plenary speech to EDDI 2011, and that the DDI Alliance will be sponsoring two half-day DDI courses on Monday, December 5.
Bo Sundgren is professor of informatics at Stockholm University and has a long career in leading positions at Statistics Sweden. Bo created and defined the metadata concept in his PhD thesis in 1973, and he is also the creator (with professor of statistics, Bengt Rosén) of the documentation system SCBDOK of Statistics Sweden. More about Bo and his publications can be found on his homepage.

DDI Classes
A half-day DDI introduction will be offered as two parallel courses with a business focus (Wendy Thomas, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Population Center) and a technical focus (Jeremy Iverson, Algenta Technologies, Minneapolis).

Call for Papers
We are seeking presentations, talks, papers, posters on all things DDI:
• Case Studies
• Mature implementations
• Early Implementations
• Interplay of DDI with other standards or technologies
• Projects in early phases in which DDI is under consideration
• Critiques of DDI
We strongly encourage papers in different areas to ensure that a broad balance of topics is covered which will attract the greatest breadth of participants, and we encourage conference participants to propose papers and posters that would be of interest to themselves and other attendees.
